Luna has made it home. The 10-year-old terrier reunited with her owner in Yellowstone on Wednesday morning, Oct. 14, after more than a month of searching.
At about 9 a.m., the owner approached a shelter-style trap where Luna was waiting inside. Rescuer Katie Boucher told SFGATE that Luna came out to greet her, and the group was able to leash her and head to a veterinarian. Yellowstone also confirmed to ABC News that the dog had been found and was alive and well.
The careful setup gave Luna room to come and go while volunteers worked to bring her home. A park construction crew spotted her near a road project, and rescuers placed familiar belongings nearby to draw her toward the shelter. After more than a month of searching, a morning hello brought Luna and her owner together again.
Luna’s story is a reminder that a little patience and a thoughtful plan can make a big difference. Her owner and rescuers now have the happy task of helping her settle back in after an extraordinary Yellowstone adventure.
