At ZooTampa, the Letter L Got a Lemur-Sized Assignment

TAMPA, Fla. — For one half-hour on Tuesday morning, the alphabet took a turn for the zoological. ZooTampa’s member-only Toddler Tuesday scheduled its September installment around the “Loveable Letter L,” with stories, songs, a wildlife connection and a theme of loud animals such as lemurs.

The modestly magnificent premise is what makes it sing: a 10:00–10:30 a.m. show for ages 2–5 in which L was expected to carry a surprising amount of the animal kingdom on its shoulders. ZooTampa says the recurring program uses interactive activities, stories and sing-alongs to connect one letter at a time with wildlife. The September listing specifically paired L with loud animals, including lemurs, and described a wildlife connection or mascot meet-and-greet after the show.

The event was listed for September 8 at ZooTampa, 1101 W. Sligh Ave. A local family-events calendar independently carried the same date, time and venue. In other words, the letter had a call sheet, the lemurs had top billing, and the toddlers had a perfectly reasonable reason to take the alphabet very seriously.
