Today’s lead: A Long Branch pet café started its Neighborhood Pet Store Day celebration on Monday, September 28, with free soft-serve for visiting dogs.
Doggie Sweets’ event listing says its Long Branch café opened the September 28–October 2 event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The simple offer: bring a pup in and receive free soft-serve ice cream. The listing also says Earth Animal is sponsoring prizes through the week.
The event is a neatly compact piece of local joy: one café, a week of community shopping, and dogs receiving the kind of menu upgrade that inspires immediate tail-based commentary. The published schedule makes September 28 the opening day in Eastern time.
